World Supremacy Battlegrounds Festival 2013- Sydney Olympic Park
This weekend come bear witness to the biggest hip hop street dance competition in the Southern Hemisphere. In it's ninth year, this has become a three day festival running from the 6th-9th and now includes hip hop dance, beatboxing, singing, and street ball competitions. This is a massive event attracting thousands of dancers from around Australia as well as New Zealand, The Philippines, Japan, Indonesia, Guam, USA, Malaysia, Singapore, Fiji and South Africa. A new hip hop night for emerging hip hop artists to showcase their talent. This week features MC Concept, Bay Side Wreckers, and Sleepwalkers. This bar has a great atmosphere and a relaxed environment that caters to all types. So come on down if you feel like curling up on a couch with a nice cold beer and a few friends after a long day at work. Take some time to admire the artwork (and feel the grassy walls) . But don't worry you will soon be up on the dance floor, with hip hop acts as good as this there's no way of avoiding it. I'm especially keen to see Bay Side Wreckers this week. Don't let the "emerging artists" part fool you, they are certainly not newcomers to the scene. They have multiple releases under their belt as well as touring with some of the big names. One of the biggest acts to come out of Sweden's active hip hop culture, Looptroop Rockers tracks cover a wide variety of topics. Their outspoken political views have earned them recognition all over Europe and their chillen skater style on other tracks has seen them fit in nicely with the California crew for Rock The Bells, the largest hip hop festival in the US. Sage Francis was one of the first independent hip hop artists to gain national acclaim in the US. He is well known for his off beat, dark humor and his spoken word poetry rapping style.
Melbourne group Tenfold will also share the stage along with local legend Ozi Batla.
Plus this one takes place on Friday the 13th so it's bound to be a special night, full of an interesting mix of characters.
